Lower Keys Medical Center Invests in Radiology Services

Lower Keys Medical Center is continuing its investment in local access to medical care with the addition of an advanced radiography and fluoroscopy system and an upgraded x-ray room to accommodate the new technology. In addition to delivering sharper imaging for increased accuracy in diagnoses, the new x-ray equipment offers fluoroscopy capabilities, enabling patients to schedule procedures and diagnostics such as joint injections and barium swallow testing.

“We are committed to continually upgrading and enhancing our equipment and technologies to serve our community and provide additional diagnostics close to home,” said Drew Bigby, chief executive officer of Lower Keys Medical Center. “This second phase of investments follows our upgrades to our computed tomography (CT) and nuclear medicine camera technology over the past year.”

Construction is underway to expand the current x-ray room to create space for the new equipment. The new radiology and fluoroscopy services will be available once construction is complete.

A new ultrasound machine has also been installed at Lower Keys Medical Center’s Women’s Imaging Center, providing enhanced imaging and streamlining women’s care in the comfort and privacy of the imaging center in the Key West Professional Building.

Lower Keys Medical Center offers a variety of imaging services with speed and accuracy, from biopsies and x-rays, computed tomography, to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digital mammography. The medical technology provides radiologists with crisp, clear images in a matter of minutes, meaning physicians can often detect serious illnesses including heart disease, lung disease, cancer and stroke at an earlier stage, when patients can be offered the widest range of effective treatment options.
