Lower Keys Medical Center Donates $50,000 to CFFK Relief Fund To Aid Hurricane Irma Recovery in the Keys

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) has announced that the Lower Keys
Medical Center (LKMC) has generously donated $50,000 to the Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund at
CFFK to assist with relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma. The contribution will be used to help
meet the critical needs of individuals in the Lower Keys with housing, rent, medical care, transportation, and
other needs.
Says David Clay, CEO of the Lower Keys Medical Center, “Members of our team, like many others in
the Keys, lost their homes and possessions, yet remained focused on providing care to our patients when they
needed it most. As our team members, neighbors and patients work to rebuild, Lower Keys Medical Center
and Community Health Systems wanted to support our community’s recovery efforts. Those of us who have
worked through other disasters were impressed by the coordination among first responders, law enforcement,
the city of Key West, Monroe County EOC and all of the agencies and organizations involved. We are proud to
be part of this resilient and caring community, where friends and neighbors stand shoulder-to-shoulder to take
care of each other.”
The Lower Keys Medical Center serves the residents of the Florida Keys who live below the Seven Mile
Bridge and is the area’s sole healthcare provider. LKMC joins many businesses in the Keys, Florida, and
around the country that are supporting recovery and rebuilding efforts in the wake of Hurricane Irma through
the Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund. Grants from the Relief Fund are already being distributed to nonprofit
organizations to assist with urgent needs. Donations to the Florida Keys Emergency Relief Fund can be made
