Fast Track Emergency Medical 24/7Services

The Fast Track was developed to better meet the time expectations and flow efficiencies for patients presenting to the hospital for “Emergency” treatment. The Fast Track is staffed by a registered nurse and a mid-level provider (a Physician’s Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner), in consultation with the emergency department physician. The criteria for the Fast Track is varied but is designed for patient complaints not requiring lengthy laboratory or radiological studies. Common complaints appropriate for the Fast Track include lacerations, sprains, non-displaced fractures and general complaints for which care could be provided within an hour. The current hours of Fast Track are 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. seven days a week.
