Adult Volunteer Program
Lower Keys Medical Center has always had a close bond with our island community. Volunteering offers residents the opportunity to be a part of that bond. To participate as a Adult Volunteer, we require that you be at least 18 years of age and committed to volunteer at least three hours per week for six months on a regularly scheduled basis.
Career building. As an Adult Volunteer you have the chance to volunteer in many different areas of our hospital. If you find that perfect job, a position opens and if you meet the necessary requirements, you may then choose to become a full-time employee and go on to enjoy a challenging and rewarding career in health care.
There are five main areas of volunteer opportunities:
- Direct patient contact
- Semi-direct patient contact
- Customer service
- Administrative support
- Special projects

Hospital Auxiliary Member/Volunteer
The dedicated members of the Lower Keys Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer their time and talents throughout the hospital. Their valuable assistance supports our high standards of patient care, brings comfort and cheer to patients and families, and lightens the load of hospital care professionals.
Some of the services performed by our Auxiliary include:
- Gift shop operation and management
- Delivery of mail to patients and hospital departments
- Delivery of flowers, balloons and gifts to patients
- Staffing of information desk
- Assisting in various hospital departments
The Auxiliary also gives back to our community. Every year the organization provides scholarships to nursing students enrolled in the Florida Keys Community College Nursing Program. Areas of services for volunteers keep growing, and we are currently need more volunteers.
